Cranberry & Sardine Overnight Oats for Dogs

A soothing, anti-inflammatory overnight oat blend made with cranberries, oily fish, kefir and rolled oats. Packed with omega-3s, antioxidants, fibre and probiotics, this complementary recipe is perfect for puppies, adults and senior dogs. Serve in a bowl, on a LickiMat, or freeze for enrichment.

Ingredients

• 200 g – Fresh or tinned sardines (in water), or other oily fish such as sprats or mackerel
• ½ cup – Fresh cranberries
• ¼ cup – Filtered water
• 30 g – Rolled oats
• ¼ cup – Kefir (or water, bone broth, or water kefir) 

This recipe provides approximately 1.34 kcal per gram. Because this is a complementary recipe and not nutritionally complete, it should not make up more than 10% of your dog’s daily calorie intake.

Directions

1. Simmer cranberries with filtered water on low heat until soft and burst. 
2. Allow the mixture to cool.
3. Add rolled oats to a bowl and pour in kefir (or water/bone broth).
4. Add the oily fish and flake into small pieces. If you're using fresh fish, blend everything in a food processor.
5. Stir in the cooled cranberries.
6. Add extra water if needed to reach a soft porridge-like texture.
7. Refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
8. Serve in a bowl, on a licki mat, in a slow feeder, or freeze for enrichment.
